Big Sky’s Access to
Madison Valley Medical Center Services
Ignoring the fact that MVMC delivers essential medical services in Big Sky, supporters of the Big Sky Wellness District Initiative allege that they do not have access to the MVMC because it is only accessible to Big Sky’s Madison County taxpayers through a "private road." This oversimplifies and misrepresents the reality of access to this essential healthcare facility.
While Jack Creek Road is privately owned by Moonlight Basin, access passes are widely available to various groups, including:
Members and employees of major Big Sky businesses and home owner associations such as Big Sky Resort, Moonlight Basin, Montage at Big Sky, Spanish Peaks, Yellowstone Club, Crazy Mountain Ranch, and the Lone Mountain Land Company.
Members of the Madison Valley Ski Club and annual ski pass holders.
Homeowners along Jack Creek Road.
Guests authorized by homeowners or the private entities that own the road.
Contractors and service providers.
Emergency and official services, including healthcare access.
These access provisions make MVMC a realistic and viable option for Big Sky’s Madison County property owners and employees. Moreover, in critical situations where healthcare services are needed, access restrictions are typically waived or expedited to ensure that residents receive timely care.
It’s also worth noting that members of Yellowstone Club, Moonlight Basin, and Spanish Peaks frequently travel to Ennis via private helicopters or on Jack Creek Road to utilize the Ennis Airport. This further demonstrates the accessibility of Madison Valley Medical Center to property owners on the Madison County side of Big Sky. The argument that MVMC is inaccessible ignores the reality that both ground and air travel options connect Big Sky property owners to this essential healthcare facility.
